Antonian College Prep PF Darrius Hamilton (San Antonio, TX) committed to Boise State in late September following an official visit to campus. The exposure of the Bronco football program has benefited Head Coach Leon Rice as recruits were "wowed" by the atmosphere in Boise during the weekend of the Oregon State game. What made Hamilton commit to Boise State? "Well, the visit was amazing and I'd always see Boise State at my games," he said. "Coach Rice or Coach Linder were always there and I have a real good relationship with them," he added.

Hamilton considers himself a big college football fan and that made the visit that much more enjoyable. "I'm a big football fan and I know they've had a lot of great success. I'm mad right now with what they're saying on ESPN," he stated. "It was a great atmosphere. It was just fun to meet new friends and learn about what they have at Boise State. My family has heard nothing but positive things about Boise State."

Head Coach Leon Rice will bring an up-tempo offense to Boise and that has recruits excited about the future of the program. Rice had an excellent run with Gonzaga while he was the Associate Head Coach under Mark Few and recruits are confident that he'll bring a high level of success to Boise State. "Coach Rice came from Gonzaga and they always had an up-and-down offense. That's the way I love to play," Hamilton said. "He knows the game of basketball and what he's going to do. In practice, he's not the yelling type but he would talk to you and tell you what's what. That's a good way of coaching."

The fact that Boise State is joining the Mountain West Conference in 2011 is a big selling point for recruits. Hamilton is ready for that challenge and believes the program has a lot of potential. "We have a lot of potential," he said. "I think we can go really far in the Mountain West. I think some people are doubting us because of past seasons, but all these guys work hard just like me. We've got a great group."

What does Darrius Hamilton (6'9, 237) bring to the Bronco basketball program? "I'm really an all-around player. I love contact and banging inside," he said. "I want to be the defensive specialist too. I love blocking shots, getting defensive rebounds, and going all-around. I can go left and right, mid-jumper, just everything," he added.
