Mountain View HS DE Tyler Horn (Meridian, ID) signed with Boise State as a member of the 2010 recruiting class and will officially join the team in January as a grayshirt. Horn has made excellent progress in the strength/conditioning program and could find himself in the mix for playing time next season. "I've been putting on weight easily with their workout program. I workout Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday," he said. "I've been doing a lot of weightlifting and working on my quickness as well," he added.

Tyler weighed 225 back during the summer and now he's at 260. The coaching staff would like to see him add about 10-15 more pounds and to say he's ready for spring practice would be an understatement. "I feel like I'm going to go out there and play harder than I ever have," he stated. "I'll be so hungry. I'm going to run around with my hair on fire and do my best. I'm going to try to make a name for myself and show everyone what I can do."

Horn has watched the Bronco defense closely from the sidelines. The Boise State defense has more depth than ever and there's rarely a drop-off from one unit to the next. In short, the execution of the game plan is superb. "They execute everything. Everyone does their job and they just end up winning," Horn said. "Coach K (Kwiatkowski) does the best job of getting everything out of his players. It just makes me excited to come in and hopefully have a big impact."

Tyler believes his biggest challenge will be in the mental aspect of the game. "I need to become smarter and learn the defense. I have a lot to learn mentally," he said. "Physically, I feel like I'm big and fast enough to play. I just need to get it down mentally and make a name for myself," he added.

What can Bronco fans expect to see from Tyler Horn? "My favorite thing to do is pass rush. I love everything about that," he said. "I feel like I'm versatile too. The one thing Boise State does well is they always get to the ball. I feel like my motor could get a little better."

Tyler Horn (6'4, 260) racked up 14 sacks as a senior at Mountain View in 2009.

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Tyler Horn.
