Cottonwood HS ATH Anthony Lewis (Salt Lake City, UT) was scheduled to take an official visit to Boise State this weekend, but the team is departing for Las Vegas on Saturday morning and that has forced him to reschedule it for a later date. Boise State is searching far and wide for Nickelbacks right now and Lewis is yet another highly-touted ATH on the Bronco radar. "I played in a 3-3-5 in HS and was basically a hybrid-LB," he said. "Our defense was based on speed. We would drop into coverage, come up to stop the run, and so forth," he added.

Lewis (6'0, 205) was informed on Monday that the visit needed to be rescheduled for a later date. "I spoke to Coach Choate on Monday morning. He told me the team is heading out on Saturday morning so we needed to reschedule the visit," he stated. "He gave me three weekends in January to choose from. I haven't chosen an exact date yet."

The standout ATH currently holds offers from Utah State and Wyoming. He also held offers from Oregon State and Washington State back during the summer months, but each was pulled once they no longer needed anymore LBs.

Boise State has become a "destination program" in recent years. Meaning, more and more kids are growing up dreaming of becoming a Bronco. "Boise State is my dream school," he said. "I want to see how large or small the campus is while on my visit. I also want to meet the engineering director and see how far I can go in my career. In terms of football, I'd love to meet any team leaders."

Lewis and his teammates at Cottonwood finished the 2010 season with a 10-1 record. Anthony helped anchor the Cottonwood defense and believes a "passion" for the game is his biggest asset. "I'm not the biggest, fastest or strongest guy out on the field. I'm able to keep up because I'm passionate and I want it more than they do," he said. "I think I'm really balanced. I'm good at one-on-one coverage, but I've had more experience filling the gaps."

As a senior, Lewis racked up 68 tackles to go along with 1 INT and 4 forced fumbles for the Colt defense. He is also an excellent student in the classroom as he reports a 3.9 core GPA.

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Anthony Lewis.
