Visit Report: Corey Bell

Capital HS ATH Corey Bell (Boise, ID) committed to Boise State back in October and was on campus this past weekend for his official visit. How did it go? He spoke to BroncoCountry.com about his official visit to Boise State and his future as a Bronco.

Capital HS ATH Corey Bell (Boise, ID) committed to Boise State back in October and was on campus this past weekend for his official visit. Overall, he says it was a great experience.

"It was a really good time," he said. "They took us out to eat, put us up in a nice hotel, toured the campus, saw the facilities, and got to go to Coach Pete's house for dinner. It was a lot of fun."

Bell will bring added depth to the Nickelback position at Boise State and says the meeting with Coach (Jeff) Choate allowed him to understand the position in better detail.

"The meeting with Coach Choate went well and I think the position fits my abilities as a player," he stated. "Honestly, I don't think it'll take me too long to figure everything out. It's something I'll be able to handle once I learn everything."

Winston Venable was a big key to Boise State's success in 2009 and 2010. Replacing him will be tough and Corey says he got a better understanding of the position by simply watching Venable week-in and week-out.

"I played a similar position in HS and I started watching Venable much closer as soon as I committed," he said. "It's cool to see how often he comes off the edge, plays pass protection, and flies around out there on the field," he added.

The future Bronco also had a meeting with Head Coach Chris Petersen just before he left campus on Sunday.

"We talked mostly about the visit," Bell said. "We also talked about the workouts this summer, Signing Day, and everything like that. It was a pretty big thrill for me since I grew up a Bronco fan. I know my parents feel like this is a perfect fit for me."

We're now less than a week away from Signing Day. Bell (5'11, 200, 4.5) says he's excited and ready to officially become a Bronco.

"I'm really excited about it," he said. "It got me even more pumped when I talked to Coach Pete about everything on the visit. I'm pretty sure I'll do it that morning with my HS coaches and send it down there. I think I'll meet with a radio station that afternoon and then we have something planned for that night too."
