De La Salle LB Blake Renaud (Concord, CA) was one of six current commits on campus this past weekend for an official visit. This was Renaud's first trip to Boise since last summer and was also his first opportunity to get a "feel" for the campus atmosphere. By all accounts, Renaud greatly enjoyed the visit.

"I liked it and had a lot of fun," he said. "Being around all the coaches and players was great. I just realized that this is where I'll be living for the next four or five years, so it was nice to see everything."

Bronco fans have compared Renaud to (current Bronco) Byron Hout due to the similarities in playing style, size, and so forth. Oddly enough, Blake's host on the visit was none other than Byron Hout.

"Byron Hout was my host," he said. "He seems like a laid back and quiet guy like myself. I think I could really learn a lot from him since I know he's a real good player."

Hout offered Renaud a word of advice...go in not expecting to redshirt.

"He told me some different things," he stated. "Byron told me to go in, work hard, and don't just expect to redshirt. When you expect to redshirt, you might not work as hard. You got to go in thinking you're going to play."

Being able to have dinner at Head Coach Chris Petersen's home isn't just an everyday run-of-the-mill activity. The future Bronco says it was an experience he won't soon forget.

"It was cool. It was nice to be able to sit around and talk to the guys," Renaud said. "You know, you see Coach Petersen on TV, but then you're at his house for dinner. It's pretty cool to say that you ate dinner at his house."

Signing Day is next week and Renaud (6'2, 235) plans on signing his LOI early on Wednesday morning.

"It'll be cool, but I've known for a long time where I'm going," he said. "It'll be nice to think about the opportunity I have to go to Boise State and realize how lucky I am for that. I'll probably just sign it at my house that morning and fax it to them."

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Blake Renaud.
