Servite HS OL Travis Averill (Anaheim, CA) was in Boise this past weekend for the inaugural Junior Day event held on the Boise State campus. Boise State was first to offer Averill a little over a month ago and he's giving the program and all it has to offer a hard look.

"It was real well-planned out," he said. "We got to meet all the coaches, got some one-on-one time with Coach Petersen, took a tour of the campus, had a discussion table with the players, and watched the spring game. It was a lot of fun."

"My dad really liked the part about education and how they try to graduate their players," he stated. "Coach Petersen really stressed the academic side of things and my dad liked that a lot. It's nice to see that he's about academics first and foremost."

What aspect of the visit did the talented O-lineman enjoy most?

"I really liked watching the spring game and meeting some of the seniors (2011 signees) that have already committed there," he said. "We were all in a big group the whole time, so that was real cool. I liked seeing that they have a couple guys from my area going up there to play."

Averill (6'6, 280) isn't quite ready to name any favorites, but says Boise State will remain in the mix all the way.

"Boise State is definitely up there," said Averill. "I don't have any particular order right now. I'm just trying to see what each school has to offer. I saw this weekend that Boise State has a lot to offer. They were the first to offer me and that's big."

Boise State was first to offer, but Colorado and UCLA put an offer on the table just a couple weeks later as well. Averill's timetable for a college decision remains the same. His goal is to commit before his senior season.

"I still want to commit before my senior season," he said. "I'm thinking sometime around late-August would be great," he added.
