Loyola HS CB Chaz Anderson (Los Angeles, CA) picked up his first offer just a few days ago as Boise State became the first school to extend an offer to the talented CB. Anderson has been flying under the radar a bit at this early point in the recruiting process, but he expects things to pick-up in the coming months.

"Coach Yates offered me on like April 21st," he said. "It was very unexpected. I really haven't heard from a lot of colleges, so having a big college like Boise State suddenly offer me was pretty crazy."

"Boise State has been recruiting me for a few months now," he stated. "My cousin (Bryan Douglas) is up there now. All I've heard from him are good things about Boise State."

"They're one of my top choices," he said in regards to Boise State. "I've never been up there, so I plan on doing that soon. I've done some research and it looks like they have a great program. They've been one of my top choices for three years now."

Oddly enough, Anderson and Douglas may have grown up in the same city, but they never had the opportunity to play on the same team. Furthermore, the two always seemed to play on the opposite side of the big city "rivalries" growing up.

"We've always played against each other as rivals," said Anderson. "To be able to play with Bryan in college would be great. We've never been a part of the same team. I always hoped we could play on the same team, but it just never happened."

Anderson (6'0, 175) says Oregon State and SMU have also been showing some interest of late. He'll hit the camp circuit in June in hopes of garnering some more interest.

"I plan on going to the Nike Camp at Stanford, maybe USC, and probably UCLA," he said. "I'm hoping I can also get up to Idaho and go to Boise State's as well."

The Cubs will hit the practice field in early May as spring ball will get underway at Loyola. Anderson says one of his main goals this spring is to become more of a "student of the game."

"We start spring ball on May 10th," he said. "I want to work on learning the game more. You know, become more of a student of the game. Also, being a leader and team captain is definitely one of my goals for this year."

What does Anderson bring to the gridiron?

"I feel like I'm a ball-hawk," he said. "I can cover ground, just a lock-down corner," he added.
