Broncos Offer Hard-Hitting LB

Mountain View HS LB Joel Skotte (Bend, OR) has had quite an interesting month. He didn't have any offers a little over a month ago and has since reeled in a total of five. Mountain View HS LB Joel Skotte (Bend, OR) has had quite an interesting month. He didn't have any offers just a little over a month ago and has since reeled in a total of five. One of those five just happens to be Boise State.

"Coach Petersen offered me when I went down for their Junior Day," he said. "Honestly, I wasn't expecting that at all. He said they've done a lot of research on me, watched my film, and wanted to offer me."

"Well, I really like Boise's coaching staff," he stated. "I like their coaching style and the way they treat their players is really good. The tradition there is just awesome. They really showed that they know how to market themselves at the Junior Day. I remember walking up through the parking lot and hearing someone say 'Hey Joel' when it was obvious I had never met that person before. I thought that was really cool."

The standout LB also went to Corvallis late last week and left campus with an offer from the home-state Beavers. He says he grew up an OSU fan, so that made it pretty special.

"We went over there to watch them practice last Friday. That one came as a surprise too," he said. "We had a private tour, lunch with the coaching staff, and things like that. Afterwards, we went to Coach Riley's office and that's when he offered me."

Skotte (6'2, 230, 4.65) currently holds offers from Boise State, Oregon State, Air Force, Idaho, and Washington State. He says he's still wide open, but there are three schools in particular that stand-out to him at this time.

"Well, I'm thinking about all the schools that have offered me, but I do have a top three with all of them being equal," said Skotte. "My top three right now are Boise State, Oregon State, and Air Force. Right now, I like those schools a lot and all three have a great coaching staff."

Skotte and his teammates will hit the practice field for "spring" ball in June. He says the team should be strong, but there are some big holes that need to be filled as well.

"I don't really know what to expect. I know our skill positions will be better than ever, but we lost our entire O-line," he said. "We'll need some juniors to really step-up and help fill some of those positions. We made it to the semis last year and lost to Sherwood, so we're hoping to advance a little further this year."

What does Skotte bring to the gridiron?

"The best thing I do is just play hard," he said. "I get all of those tackles because I want it more than the other guy. You just have to have that drive and that's what I've got. The other guy doesn't get those tackles because he gives up on the play."

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Joel Skotte.
