Devan Demas: 'I Felt That Family Feeling'

Cypress Creek HS RB Devan Demas (Houston, TX) brought his recruitment to an end on Saturday afternoon as he verbally committed to Boise State. The talented RB is currently in Boise for an unofficial visit and told BroncoCountry last week that he would most likely commit if it went well. He spoke to BroncoCountry.com about his commitment to Boise State and his future as a Bronco.

"I committed to Coach Petersen at around 4:30 today," he said. "He told me what he liked about me and why I should come to Boise. I was like...hey...I'm ready to come here. He then said to make sure I'm committing for the right reasons and I told him I am. I'm a Bronco."

"My step-dad thinks Coach Pete is awesome," he said with a laugh. "He was sold as soon as he showed him that ring collection."

"What shocked me was the scenery when we first landed. You could see the mountains and everything," said Demas. "I met Coach B shortly after we landed and then I got to meet all the other coaches. He showed me some film, took me around campus, and showed me the dorms. I've seen it all."

Demas says that "family feeling" is what separated Boise State from the other schools recruiting him.

"I felt that family feeling," he said. "I've always liked Boise and I already knew a little bit about Coach Pete. He told me the team is like one big family and that they do everything together. That's something I want to be a part of."

Cypress Creek HS should sound familiar to Bronco fans. It's the same HS that produced (current Bronco) D.J. Harper. Demas and Harper got to spend some time together yesterday afternoon as Harper gave his good friend (and future teammate) a tour of Boise.

"I was hanging out with DJ all day yesterday," he said. "He was showing me around the town and everything. We had a lot of fun. I also met Doug Martin and they both told me I need to come to Boise."

"It's good that I'm going up there with some guys I already know," said Demas. "Me, DJ, and Shane will have a lot of fun together. It's going to be real good."

The future Bronco says he's 100% committed to Boise State.

"I'm 100% committed," he said. "That ain't changing," he added.

As a junior, Demas (5'9, 165) rushed for 1,850 yards and 26 TDs.

He chose Boise State over offers from Utah, Indiana, Iowa State, Rice, UTEP, Air Force, Wake Forest, and Northwestern State.

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Devan Demas.
