La Habra HS LB Aaron Porter (La Habra, CA) recently narrowed his list to four and Boise State made the final cut. The talented LB says he would like to commit sometime within the next month and Boise State is one of four schools receiving serious consideration.

"Boise State, Cal, Arizona State, and UCLA," he said. "That's my top four," he added.

"Well, I know they have a real good defense at BSU and I like the coaching staff at each of those schools," he said. "I like the blue turf a lot and one of our players (Ryan Winterswyk) went there, so that's real cool too."

"Coach Gregory is always sending me mail and stuff," said Porter. "He's just a real good guy. Receiving handwritten letters is really cool. It shows that they're thinking about me and want me."

It appears right now that UCLA is perhaps the front-runner as they told Porter he could also play baseball for the Bruins.

"I grew up liking UCLA. I've always been a fan of them," he said. "They're recruiting me the hardest right now and told me I could play baseball too. It's also close to home and that means I could go home on the weekends if I wanted to."

Porter says he would like to commit sometime within the next month and is looking for a school that offers early playing time.

"I'll probably commit within the next month," he said. "Early playing time is probably the biggest thing I'm looking for. I'm also looking for a place that's reasonably close to home with nice weather."

The standout LB will be busy all summer as he's participating in summer workouts, passing league, and some other training on the side.

"I do summer workouts every day from 3-7," he said. "I have passing league every Tuesday and Thursday plus I'm lifting and training on the side as well. I'm actually pretty tired right now. I've been real busy."

Porter (6'2, 230) set a school record in 2010 with 156 tackles. So, what's the key to his success?

"You always have to wrap up," he said. "It's all about being in the right position to make a tackle," he added.
