Boise State In Top Two For SoCal LB
A.B. Miller HS LB Reshawn Hooker (Fontana, CA) picked up his first offer (from Boise State) back in March and has since added eleven more to his total. The talented LB has Boise State and UCLA as his top two schools right now and a visit to The Blue is currently being planned as well.
"Boise State and UCLA are my top two," he said. "UCLA offered me last week, so they've pulled even with Boise," he added.
"They have a great football program at Boise," he said. "They're recruiting me the hardest right now and I talk to Coach Gregory a lot. I like that Coach Gregory cares about me as an individual and not just as a football player. I'd have to say Coach Petersen is the same way."
"Boise is showing me a lot of love," he stated. "They're recruiting me a lot harder than the other schools. I'll hear from some schools about once a month, but I hear from Boise about every other week or so. I can see they really want me as a part of their program."
Boise State offered Hooker back in March and he says other schools took notice right away. He picked up four more offers within a two week span.
"It matters that they were first to offer and a lot of schools didn't show interest until Boise offered," he said. "It's funny since my offers started piling up almost immediately. Basically, Arizona State and about three others offered me within a couple weeks of the Boise offer."
Hooker has visited the UCLA campus multiple times, but has yet to visit Boise State. That could change soon as a visit to The Blue is currently being planned.
"Me, my mom, and my uncle are going to try to go up to Boise the first week of August," said Hooker. "They'll be starting fall practice that week and told me that would be a good time for me to visit."
"I want to meet all the coaches and see how they interact with me and with each other," he said. "I also want to talk to the players from Cali and see how they adjusted to Boise. I already know they have a winning tradition, so I'll be interested to see more of the academic side and the environment too."
Hooker (6'1, 200, 4.57) transferred to A.B. Miller for the spring semester and has stepped right into a leadership role.
"I'm coming to a new school and I'm just trying to set a good example for the younger guys," he said. "They kind of look up to me and I workout with a lot of them. The sophomore class is really talented, probably more than the senior class. My goal coming in was to just get them to work with me. We have a lot of young talent, but I think we can at least make it to the second round of the playoffs this year."
As a junior, Hooker had 105 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, and 4 sacks.
