Steele Canyon HS ATH Chanceller James (Spring Valley, CA) visited Boise State last weekend and almost committed while on campus. Reports have surfaced claiming that he will commit this week with Boise State being the front-runner. So, will the talented ATH verbally commit this week?

"I was planning on committing while I was there, but Coach Petersen told me to go home and think about it," he said. "Overall, it was a great trip," he added.

"Me and my mom spoke to Coach Petersen for a little while," he stated. "He really sold my mom on everything. He said they don't have any knuckleheads on the team and that student-athletes at Boise State aren't just athletes, but students too. He also talked about the low crime rate in Boise."

"I definitely like that it's a small city," said James. "That'll keep you out of trouble. It's like one big family up there."

James told BroncoCountry about a month ago that he planned on committing right when he got the offer from Boise State. But, he had to "sell" his mom on the idea due to the distance. So, did she enjoy the campus visit?

"My mom liked it and everything," said James. "The only thing she didn't like was the fourteen hour drive to get there. She really liked the coaching staff and the campus. So, my plan is to commit on Tuesday or Wednesday."

So, what aspect of the visit stood out most?

"Definitely the players interacting with each other at the bowling alley," he said. "I like that they do team activities like that. Like I said, it reminded me of a big family."

Bronco Nation was out in full force for the scrimmage on Saturday at Bronco Stadium. Something as simple as that can go a long way when it comes to recruiting as James took notice of the fan support.

"They had like 15,000 at the scrimmage. That was really cool," he said. "I think the 'D' is going to be really good this year. Overall, I thought the team played well."

"I like how they use those three Safeties back there," he stated. "I really like the 4-2-5 and all the different alignments that go with that defense."

The standout ATH says he doesn't like the recruiting process too much and is eager to make his college decision.

"I don't like the recruiting process too much," he said. "It'll be nice to go into the season and just focus on football," he added.

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Chanceller James.
