Steele Canyon HS ATH Chanceller James (Spring Valley, CA) became the fourteenth verbal commit for the Boise State 2012 recruiting class on Wednesday evening when he decided to end his recruitment and become a Bronco. Boise State led throughout his recruitment and an unofficial visit to campus just a little over a week ago sealed the deal.

"I was going to commit last week, but I wanted to talk to my pastor about it," he said. "My pastor, Terrell Fletcher, played for Wisconsin and the Chargers. He told me to weigh my options, but I spoke to him a couple days ago and he said he really likes the coaches at Boise State. So, I decided to go ahead and commit."

"I think it's the best fit for me because it's a college town," he stated. "I don't want to be in a big town with a lot of distractions like LA and being in a small town will keep you out of trouble. I want to be in a small town with a team that's like a family and I felt that at Boise State."

"They like me at Safety," he said. "I like that they run a lot of man coverage since that's something I do well," he added.

Head Coach Chris Petersen also made a solid impression on James and his mom while they were on campus for a visit just a little over a week ago.

"I really like Coach Pete," said James. "He's really into his team and has an open door policy. He knows every player personally and that's something I really like. I think I'll fit in really well with the team."

"My mom has been with me throughout the whole process," he said. "Basically, anything I do goes through her and I know she supports me 100%."

The one thing that stood out to James (6'3, 190, 4.6) while on his visit to Boise? Bronco Nation.......

"Just how nice the people were up there," he said. "We went to the scrimmage, sat down, and people would just start a conversation with you. Some people aren't social, but everyone was up in Boise. They also had about 15,000 people at a scrimmage and that's really cool."

The future Bronco says he can now focus on his senior season with the recruiting process in the rearview mirror.

"I don't like the recruiting process too much," he said. "It seems to take up all your time," he added.

"I'm just glad I can now focus on my senior season."

The talented ATH chose Boise State over offers from Arizona, Arizona State, New Mexico, Air Force, San Diego State, Colorado, and Eastern Washington.
