Americas HS RB Jack Fields (El Paso, TX) verbally committed to Boise State back in June and was in Boise for his official visit just a little over a week ago as he attended the home opener against Tulsa. Fields had already been on campus once over the summer, but he brought his mom along for her visit to Boise.

"She loved Boise," he said. "She talked about how green it was and that it reminded her of her hometown in Georgia. It's just way different than El Paso up there. It's nice to be able to walk on the street, wave at someone, and have them wave back at you."

"My mom really loved Coach Petersen," he stated. "He's a genuine guy with a great attitude. Coach Petersen said it'll be a hard process, but success will come if you work hard. He tells it like it is."

"I also had a meeting with Coach Bhonapha," said Fields. "He just mainly talked about expectations, the duty you have as a RB at Boise State, and how you need to take care of business in the classroom and on the field."

And the game?

"The offense plays as a unit. They're very vocal out on the field," he said. "I noticed when they come off the field that they give each other a lot of feedback on what to look for on the next series. They have a real blue collar mentality and play hard all game."

Fields (5'10, 190) and his teammates are 4-1 through five games. On offense, one could say it's been "The Jack Fields Show" as the talented RB carries the load for a team that prides itself on playing smash-mouth football.

"I have 978 yards rushing, 8 TDs on the ground, and 1 receiving TD," he said. "I've had two straight 300 yard games. For me, it all starts in the off-season. Sometimes you get caught up on the fact that you have ten more sprints, but those sprints prepare you for the season. It helps you carry that load in the fourth quarter. You have to get your body ready for a lot of carries."

Will the future Bronco make it three straight this week?

"Yeah, you got to go into each game with that mentality," he said. "We're going to play smash-mouth football, run the ball every single game, and finish with a win," he added.
