Klein Collins HS WR Shane Rhodes (Klein, TX) verbally committed to Boise State back in May and was in Boise two weeks ago for his official visit as he attended the home opener against Tulsa. Like Chaz Anderson, Rhodes had never visited the campus and that meant this particular visit took on an added importance. So, what are his thoughts on the visit to The Blue?

"I loved it," he said. "That game atmosphere was crazy. It felt like everybody in the whole state was at the game. The way they color-coordinated the stands was really cool. I had never seen anything like that."

"I had a meeting with Coach Prince," he stated. "He talked about where I'll fit in the offense, where I'll play at, and told me I'll have a good chance to play next year. He said it's up to me to grab that spot, work hard, and things like that."

"It was all about academics and character when I sat down with Coach Petersen," said Rhodes. "He said I have the football aspect, but he wants the 'OKGs' and that's the most important thing. He wants kids that are good in the community and in the classroom."

His favorite part of the visit?

"My favorite part was being on the field before the game," he said. "Seeing the fans and how zoned in they were for the game was awesome," he added.

And the game itself?

"You can just see how well-coached they are on offense," he said. "You can tell people where to go, but you know it's coaching when you see WRs running wide open in the secondary. The coaching staff is unbelievable."

The future Bronco says the cooler weather in Boise will be a welcomed change in comparison to the heat and humidity of Houston, TX.

"Being somewhere that has 100 degree weather doesn't compare to 89 with clouds," he said with a laugh. "I love the temperature up there and playing in the cold will be fun too. You got to play in the cold if you make it to the next level, so you better get used to it."

Rhodes (5'7 160) and his teammates are 4-2 through six games. The talented WR has been a TD machine through the first half of the season with a total of 10 trips to the endzone.

"I'm just trying to do everything I can to help my team win games," he said. "I've got about 450 yards receiving, 150 yards rushing, and 10 TDs total."

"Honestly, I don't have any personal goals," he said. "I just want to get beyond that third round in the state playoffs," he added.
