Boise State: 'Perfect Place' For Elliot Hoyte
Bristol Aztecs D-lineman Elliot Hoyte (6'5 270lbs, Tavistock, England) verbally committed to Boise State about a month ago and will bring a little more international flavor to the Boise State roster. The talented D-lineman attended the annual football camp on The Blue over the summer and impressed the Boise State coaching staff with his athleticism and overall talent. "Boise State is the perfect place for me. I love the attitude of the coaches and the general feel of the town, it's much like my hometown in England. I feel as if I will have the opportunity to get a great education and be the best football player I can be in a safe but fun environment." "The camp was great fun. The competition, even though it was a summer camp, was nothing like what I'm used to in England. I loved the campus and made some friends whilst I was there. I didn't want to leave!" "I think it's great that Boise look globally as well as within North America, there's a huge amount of talent in Europe. You just have to look at the impact Geraldo, Ricky, and Cedric have made to name but a few which proves there's mileage in investing in international recruits." Hoyte is a versatile D-lineman and can play either DT or DE. Right now, the coaching staff simply wants to get him on campus and see what position fits him best. He admits that he would love to play DE at Boise State. "I'm not sure just yet. I think it depends on what the coaches want from me and how well I'll fit in the system. I have played across the D-Line, predominately Defensive End. I will admit it's my preferred position, but I don't mind playing Tackle too so long as I'm on the field making some plays!" "I think I'm still establishing myself as a player, but I'd say I'm well rounded. My pass rush is definitely an attribute. I'm not afraid to get physical to make a tackle and I'll keep going until the play ends." The future Bronco has only played American football for two years, but grew up playing rugby, soccer, and a number of other sports. "I've played rugby for 14 years (my school rugby team finished #2 in the nation last season), soccer until I was 12 and basketball on and off over the years. They've all helped me to be a better football player as they all have transferable skills." Hoyte will enroll at Boise State in January and says his parents couldn't be happier with his decision to become a Bronco. "I do well at school and hope to finish Boise with a solid degree and make full use of the academic facilities provided for my 4-5 years there. I think it's important to remind myself Boise State isn't just about football." "My parents are really excited and very proud. My mother tells anyone and everyone I'm going to Boise. It's an even bigger deal for my dad. He actually played football for Akron in the 80's and in the World League, which became NFL Europe. We have a close relationship. He's been with me every step of the way ever since I saw my first college game on ESPN back in 2006! Since that day I always knew what I wanted to do."
