Leland HS ATH Christopher Santini
(San Jose, CA) verbally committed to Boise State
back in August and will be in Boise this weekend for his official visit as he'll watch the Broncos battle the Horned Frogs on The Blue. Recently, Santini suffered a concussion due to an accident while riding his bike, but he appears to be close to 100% now.
"I suffered a concussion, three broken bones in my cheek, two fractures in my eye socket, and a broken nose," he said. "I've been out for about three weeks, but I feel I'm at 100% now. I'm more than ready to get back out there and play."
"My coach held me out last week and I had been cleared to play," he stated. "That was our first loss of the season and we're 8-1 now. We couldn't score from fifteen yards out right at the end. That was 'my play' and I feel I could've gotten that TD."
"This is probably the most energetic week of practice that I've had in a while," he said. "Just watching them made me want to get back out there real quick," he added.
The accident took place about a month ago while Santini was riding his bike to the gym.
"It was starting to get kind of late and I was riding my bike to the gym," he said. "Basically, I was going down this hill really fast, lost control, and got thrown over the handlebars. A lady saw me and I asked her if I could use her phone to call for help. She let me use it and I called my dad. I felt like I had amnesia for a period of time. I didn't know what day it was or anything. It's all a big blur for me."
On a positive note, Santini (6'1, 217) will be in Boise this weekend for his official visit and says he's really looking forward to it.
"I'm excited to go up there," said Santini. "I'm looking forward to seeing their preparation and everything. I'm going to watch how they coach from the sideline and also get a look at the weather since I know it's getting cold up there."
"I just spoke to Coach Strausser and Coach Gregory yesterday," he said. "They were asking me if I was ready for this week, wishing me luck in my game, and also talked about what will happen on my official visit."
"I'm 100% committed."
The future Bronco has paid close attention to the Boise State defense and says the main thing that stands out is how "crisp" they play.
"They're all crisp with what they're doing," he said. "I feel like they each know they have an assignment and stick to it. They go all out, aren't lazy, slow, or anything like that. They play fast."
And the possibility of Boise State joining the Big East? He says he's on-board with that idea.
"I'm on-board with that," he said. "Honestly, I don't know too much about it and haven't done a whole lot of research. It sounds like a good idea to me based on what I know."
