Tyler Gray is a 6'3 225lb LB'r from Templeton California who flew under the radar last year despite being an All-State LB'r. On signing day he chose Hawaii over San Jose State, but was asked to grayshirt with the Warriors. Fast-Forward 5 months later: Tyler was 2 hours away from flying to Hawaii to be a Warrior when he got a call from Boise State, a call that would change all his plans..
According to multiple reports, former Templeton HS, (Templeton CA), LB
Tyler Gray
has committed to
Boise State
and will join the Broncos this month.
Gray (6'3 225lbs), a 2011 University of
Hawaii
signee grayshirted for the Warriors, but with the recent retirement and firing of nearly the entire Hawaii Staff, Gray was apparently up in the air about his role with the new staff.
Enter Boise State who, according to reports, contacted Gray just a couple of hours before he was to leave to go to Hawaii to start his football career on the Islands.
Boise State offered, and Gray quickly decided to jump on the offer.
Gray, who had his senior season in 2010-11, earned All-CIF and All-State honors. He was named the Los Padres League's Most Valuable Linebacker after racking up 143 tackles and 5 sacks. He was named to the Max Preps all-state second team, also earned all-CIF Southern Section Northwest Division first team and The Tribune's all-San Luis Obispo County first team as a linebacker.
He was rated the No. 42 outside linebacker prospect in the country and the 71st overall recruit in the state of California by Rivals.com and was named to Cal-Hi Sports medium-sized schools all-state team.
As a senior, Gray rushed for almost 1,600 yards and 25 touchdowns to lead the Eagles to their first-ever CIF Northwest Division semifinal. As a junior, he rushed for 597 yards and 10 touchdowns, and on defense contributed 116 total tackles, while posting two sacks, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and one blocked punt.
Gray will join the Broncos this month and have 5 full years available, (4 seasons + a redshirt season).
Tyler Gray (LB) joins
Nick Patti
(QB),
Hayden Plinke
(TE), and Elliot Hoyte (DE) as HS players who are enrolling this month with their full eligibility. JC Transfers
Connor Peters
(TE), and
Demarcus Lawrence
(DE) are also joining the Broncos this month, with Lawrence as a Junior and Peters a True Sophomore.
