In-Home Visit Report: Shane Rhodes
Klein Collins HS WR Shane Rhodes (Klein, TX) verbally committed to Boise State over the summer and received a visit for his future Head Coach last Thursday as Chris Petersen stopped by for an in-home visit. The talented WR brings speed and versatility to the Bronco offense and is expected to compete for playing time right away. So, how did the visit go? "It was really exciting," he said. "How many people can say you had the Head Coach from Boise State at your house? It was great." "We talked about the new facilities, how I'll contribute to the team, and lots of other stuff," he said. "He also showed me some pictures of the new football facility. It looks really nice." "I think what stood out most was just the humor in how they pick the uniforms," said Rhodes. "Before the game, they lay-out a whole bunch of combinations and then choose which one they want to wear. It's like the fashion police." Speaking of uniforms, we hear how they can impact a recruit's decision. What does the future Bronco think about that? "It's like the cherry on the ice cream," he stated. "You look good, you feel good, you feel good, you play good." The coaching staff expects Shane to make an instant impact on offense and special teams. Right now, he will likely see playing time as a true freshman. "That's the plan. It's a dream come true," he said. "They want me at slot receiver, punt return, and kick return. I like special teams since they can change the game, have to be good in all three phases." "I'm 100% committed." Robert Prince was named the new Offensive Coordinator at Boise State on Thursday afternoon. Being a WR, Rhodes is happy to see that his position coach will be taking the reigns as playcaller. "I'm glad that Coach Prince will be the Offensive Coordinator," said Rhodes. "He definitely has the experience from the NFL and his enthusiasm is big too. I think that will help with recruiting." "It means I will definitely be getting the ball more." And joining the Big East? "That will definitely help us recruit Texas," he said. "I'm really happy about that," he added. Boise State wrapped up a four year stretch just recently that saw the program reach new heights. Having said that, Shane says there's still work to be done. "The next step is to get us to the National Championship," he said. "I definitely think that can happen over the next couple years." BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Shane Rhodes.
