Fruitland HS ATH Alec Dhaenens (Fruitland, ID) picked up his first offer on Thursday afternoon when a Pac-12 school became the first to put an offer on the table. The talented ATH has seen interest continue to grow over the past couple months and more offers should be on the way soon. So, which Pac-12 school offered him?

"Washington State offered me today," he said. "It was Coach Choate that offered me. He called me during school and let me know about it. It came as a bit of a surprise. I knew he was going to be coming down to the school for a visit, but I didn't know he was going to offer this early."

"Honestly, it's my first scholarship offer and I'm pumped about that," he stated. "It's just an awesome feeling. I really didn't think colleges were going to offer me right now."

"They want me to play defense," he said. "Either OLB or D-end," he added.

Alec's coach gave (LBs Coach) Bob Gregory from Boise State a call shortly after the news and let him know about it. But will Boise State offer?

"I've actually been hearing from Boise State a lot lately," he said. "I spoke to Coach Gregory today right after I got the Washington State offer. My coach called Coach Gregory, let him know about it, and then I got to speak to him for a few minutes. It sounds like an offer could be coming soon."

"Coach Gregory said I'm one of the top prospects on their board," said Dhaenens. "It made me feel good to hear that."

"I think Boise State wants me at TE."

A number of other schools have been showing more and more interest over the past couple months.

"A bunch of schools have been showing interest," he said. "BYU came down to talk to me, Colorado, Utah, Princeton, and Idaho are a few of the other schools."

But of those showing interest, Boise State is the main one that stands out right now.

"I grew up a fan of both Boise State and Oregon," said Dhaenens. "Honestly, I'd probably go there if Boise State were to offer me. I might take a look at my other options for a little while just to make sure, but I like Boise State."

In the meantime, he's playing basketball with (Future Bronco) Joey Martarano as they look to bring a state championship home to Fruitland.

"Yeah, I definitely think we could take state," he said. "We lost a tough one against one of our rivals yesterday. We were up by five, tied, then up by five again, and tied. We couldn't pull away and they won in the last few seconds. Still, we have a really good team this year."

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Alec Dhaenens.
