Leland HS ATH Christopher Santini (San Jose, CA) got to watch his future teammates in action this past weekend as he was in Boise for the annual spring game at Bronco Stadium. While in Boise, he was also able to pick up the playbook and spend some time with his future teammates as well.

"It was great," he said. "My dad was on a business trip in Seattle so I flew out by myself and met up with him on Friday morning. I was able to pick up the playbook from Coach Gregory, go over that with him for about 35-40 minutes, met up with Adam Sheffield, and watched the spring game."

"I didn't think the playbook was too difficult," he stated. "Most of the things are pretty simple, but you have to keep going over it. It's all about repetition."

"I thought the defense did a great job," said Santini. "I think they performed a little better than the offense. The LBs looked pretty good out there too. I'll be facing some good competition when I get there."

So, is the future Bronco still looking at the possibility of early playing time?

"I told you it was Ben Weaver that I'll be competing with last time, but it's actually Andrew Pint," he said. "He was up there too. I got to meet him for a bit. I think it looks like we'll have a decent shot if we go in prepared, get these plays down, and keep working hard."

"It was fun to hangout with Adam and some of the other guys," said Santini. "They're all normal people...good people. Adam's kind of like me, does his business, and keeps to himself a bit. He gave me a run-through of everything and what to expect. It was fun."

Santini noted that Bronco Nation came out in full force for the spring game last year and this year was no different.

"The crowd was definitely bigger," he said. "You could just look at the stadium and see that."

"They weren't as loud as last year," he said with a laugh. "Probably because they were trying to see who was who out there on the field."

In the meantime, Santini is working hard so he'll be well prepared for that battle for playing time once fall camp rolls around. He even did this particular interview while at the gym at around 8 pm...showing that he's ready to get to Boise and compete.

"Workouts and everything are going great," he said. "I'm just trying to keep pace with my sprints and to just keep working hard."

"I'm definitely excited," he said. "I can't wait to get up there," he added.
