Vallejo Likes Winning Atmosphere In Boise
Nevada Union HS LB Tanner Vallejo (Grass Valley, CA) picked up an offer from Boise State just a few days ago and the Broncos figure to be a strong contender for his services. The talented LB says the offer from Boise State came out of the blue, but the Broncos instantly jumped to the top of his list.
"Earlier that morning I was talking to the CSU coach and he offered," he said. "Shortly after that I was on my way to Spanish class, got a note saying to call Coach Prince from Boise State, and then he offered," he added.
"I talked to him for a little bit and then I spoke to Coach Gregory," he stated. "It's funny, he said my highlight film was like fifteen minutes and I told him I needed to trim it down. Coach Gregory told me the whole fifteen minutes was nothing but good highlights and that they want to get me up there for a visit."
"They win and they play in big games," he said in regards to Boise State. "That's what I like most. They're known for their offense, but they have a good defense too. They don't play in the Pac-12 or a top conference like that right now, but they win lots of games and go to BCS Bowls."
That offer from Boise State was big for Vallejo, but how big you ask? Well, his friend and teammate decided to announce it to the class.
"That was funny," he said with a laugh. "I had that next class with my QB and he was pretty excited too. He stood up and let the whole class know about it."
"I'm thinking right now that Boise State and Arizona are on top...maybe Colorado too."
Tanner says he might commit just prior to his senior season at the earliest, but he wants to visit a number of schools this summer.
"I definitely want to visit Boise State, Arizona, and Colorado. I'd like to visit Oregon or a school like that if they were to offer as well," he said. "For committing, I'm looking at making a decision at the beginning of the season at the earliest. I'm also thinking that I might want to take a few official visits too."
"I know I want to go to a place that wins, but I also want that family feel," said Vallejo. "I want to be somewhere that will push me and help me become a better player."
So, what does Tanner Vallejo (6'2, 225, 4.5) bring to the gridiron?
"I think I can shed my blocks well and I'm pretty athletic," he said. "I'd say my favorite thing to do is stop the run, but I can also cover a RB or TE well too," he added.
As a junior, he racked up 150 tackles, 4 sacks, and 2 INTs.
