Paradise Valley HS QB Ryan Finley (Phoenix, AZ) verbally committed to Boise State back in March and had a solid performance at the Elite 11 competition in Oakland two weeks ago. The future Bronco also took part in the Atlanta competition and says he improved on his mechanics leading up to the Oakland competition.

"I definitely felt more experienced," he said. "I knew what I needed to do, was able to put myself in a good spot, and I think I threw a lot better. I definitely was able to hang in there with the top guys. Overall, I learned a lot from the Elite 11 as a whole."

"It helped that I knew what to expect," he stated. "I knew what I needed to work on from 2-3 weeks prior from talking to Coach Dilfer. He wanted me to start stepping into my throws more and I was able to apply that to the competition in Oakland."

"I was able to get the ball out a little quicker this time," he said. "Stepping into my throws made a big difference," he added.

The talented QB has done quite a bit of traveling over the past month or so. From his home in Phoenix to Atlanta and to Oakland just two weeks ago, but he'll be back in Boise later this month for the annual football camp at Boise State.

"I'm really excited for the camp," said Finley. "I'll get to have my first interaction with Coach Smith and Coach Petersen at the camp. It's going to be a great opportunity for me."

"I spoke to Coach Smith and Coach Huff a couple days ago," he said. "We touched on Elite 11 and they both said they're excited to get me up there for the camp. I know it's going to be a lot of fun and it'll be the first time I've shown my mom the campus. I'm excited."

Finley went on to say that he and his teammates are currently gearing up for summer workouts.

"We just finished our Little Trojan camp that we work as counselors," he said. "Right now we're working out as a team in the mornings and we've got summer conditioning just starting up," he added.
