Valencia HS DE Gabe Perez (Placentia, CA) took an unofficial visit to Boise State back in June and left with the Broncos as his top school. Perez has picked up six more offers since visiting The Blue, but Boise State continues to hold the top spot in his recruitment.

"The visit pretty much put them at the top of my list...Boise State is definitely my #1 right now," he said. "I've also picked up offers from West Point, Nevada, Colorado, Colorado State, Utah, and Utah State," he added.

"I was up in Boise the second week of June," he stated. "I really liked the city, everything was about football, the facilities were great, and loved the stadium as well. I like how they're adding more to it too. It's going to be bigger and louder."

"I loved the new football facility," said Perez. "Everything looks like it'll be top-notch. The blue field was great too."

Perez (6'5, 219) and his dad also sat down with Head Coach Chris Petersen.

"Coach Pete was really cool...definitely a great guy," he said. "He talked to us about the 'OKG' and how they recruit. I saw myself fitting in well with that concept and how they recruit."

"I liked watching film with Coach K as well," said Perez. "It was good...showed me a lot of the defensive scheme. I could see myself playing that hybrid-DE/LB."

He went on to say that he's not exactly sure when he'll commit. Meaning, it could be tomorrow or a couple months from now.

"At this point, I'm not really sure," he said. "I could commit at anytime. It's just when I feel comfortable."

Perez and his teammates hit the practice field for the start of fall camp next week and he says the leadership will be much better in 2012 in comparison to 2011.

"Fall camp starts next week," he said. "We're running and lifting weights right now. We put the pads on next week."

"We're looking great right now," he said. "Our leadership is much better this year. We have a great senior class and we're making sure everyone hustles and finishes plays. We expect to be much better this season."

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Gabe Perez.
