Official Visit Report: Joey Martarano
"It was an awesome experience," he said. "It was really a ton of fun. I've been to the campus a bunch of times, but we took another tour, got to eat at Coach Pete's house, and hangout with our host for a while."
"You could definitely feel the family atmosphere at Coach Pete's house," he stated. "You feel like you're already part of the family. We also had a ping-pong tournament and Coach Pete is pretty good. He's real competitive with it."
"I also had a meeting with Coach Gregory," said Martarano. "We talked about technique-stuff, how they run the defense, and where they see me playing at. He really likes my athleticism, how I can come up to stop the run, and also cover the TEs."
The future Bronco went on to say that the visit made him want to play football that much more and he remains focused on doing just that.
"I'm still focused on football," he said. "This visit made me want to go to Boise State that much more. I really enjoyed it a lot and feel it would be awesome to be a part of that."
"I'm 100% committed."
Martarano isn't playing basketball this year, but is currently in mid-season form from a workout perspective.
"I'm just working out for football," he said. "I'm lifting four times a week, work two times a week on speed stuff, and I'm training real hard. It's going well."
Like many in the 2013 class, Martarano (6'3, 240) will enroll in June as part of the summer bridge program.
"I'm doing the summer bridge program," he said. "We get there in late June. It's going to be fun. We'll earn a few credits, workout a lot, and I'll start trying to prove myself so I can earn early playing time."
"It's up to me to perform well," said Martarano. "I definitely want to come in and earn playing time. I need to put in a lot of work this summer and have a good showing in fall camp."
So, what can Bronco fans expect to see from Joey Martarano?
"I'm definitely a guy that likes to hit," he said. "I'm always going to play hard and try to help the team in any way I can," he added.
