Oregon DE To Attend Junior Day In Boise
Central Catholic HS DE Connor Humphreys (Portland, OR) is projected to be one of the top prospects in the State of Oregon for the 2014 class and has already picked up a number of early offers. The talented DE also says that he grew up a Boise State fan and plans to attend the Junior Day event in Boise early next month. "I'm going to Boise State's Junior Day on March 2nd," he said. "They've always been one of my favorite schools. My uncle lives in Boise and has been a huge fan for a long time. He would always talk about them growing up and that's how I became a fan too." "I actually went over to Boise for an unofficial last year," he stated. "I was there for the Fresno State game. It was real cool because I was standing on the sideline during pre-game and Coach Petersen walked up and said 'hey' to me. I've never had the head coach walk up and speak to me like that. It was real cool." "Everyone seemed so friendly in Boise," said Humphreys. "I loved it there. They really made you feel as if you were already part of the community." Humphreys has also attended Junior Day events at Washington and Arizona State. He says the events are important since it allows him to form a better relationship with the coaching staff at each school. "The main thing is forming a better relationship with the coaches," he said. "I've met Coach Smith and Coach Petersen once, but I want to meet the other coaches too. I also want to tour the campus, hear about the academics, and the educational side as well." "I think the three main things I'm looking for in a school are academics, a winning program, and the city itself," he said. "You need to be somewhere that you like if you're going to live there for 4-5 years. That's a big thing for me." So, what does Connor Humphreys (6'4, 257, 5.01) bring to the gridiron? "I think schools really like my speed, strength, and how I can rush the QB," he said. "I'm also always working hard to get better," he added. As a junior, he racked up 11.5 sacks on defense. BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Connor Humphreys.
