Lewis Goes In-Depth On Bronco Offer

Pleasant Grove HS CB Brandon Lewis (Elk Grove, CA) was in Boise this past weekend for Junior Day & didn't leave empty-handed as Head Coach Chris Petersen extended an offer to the talented CB. What are this thoughts on the Broncos?

Pleasant Grove HS CB Brandon Lewis (Elk Grove, CA) was in Boise this past weekend for Junior Day and didn't leave empty-handed as Head Coach Chris Petersen extended an offer to the talented CB. Lewis says this particular offer means a lot to him in that Boise State has continued to recruit him throughout the time of his injury that caused him to miss his junior season.

"We had lunch right when we got there and heard Coach Petersen talk about the program," he said. "We toured the campus, saw the locker room, watched some highlight videos, had a position coach meeting, and that's when Coach Petersen offered me," he added.

"I was having a meeting with Coach Lake and he pulled me and my parents out," he stated. "He said they really like me, that they don't offer unless they're serious, and then said he'd like to offer me a scholarship."

"Honestly, it was one of the best things to ever happen to me," said Lewis. "I thought I might get one from them down the road, but to basically get that offer this early based on my sophomore year and one day at their camp really meant a lot to me."

He went on to say that the Broncos play an "aggressive" style of football on defense and are always "flying" to the ball.

"They are aggressive on defense and always seem to be flying to the football," he said. "They won the game against BYU by themselves and almost did the same thing against Michigan State. I want to be a part of an incredible defense like that."

"I think Boise State is a great fit for me," said Lewis. "The coaching staff fits my mold, they recruit high-integrity guys, and their players get good grades too. They play with a chip on their shoulder and I see myself the same way because of my injury. The fact that I got an offer from them is huge motivation for me."

Lewis also likes knowing that DBs Coach Jimmy Lake has that NFL experience and knows what it takes to reach that level.

"Coach Lake is a great coach," he said. "I've only talked to him a couple times, but I learn something new about the position each time I talk to him. He has coached in the NFL and knows what it takes to get there. I think playing for him would be big for me."

So, what does Brandon Lewis (5'11, 180, 4.5) bring to the gridiron?

"I feel like I'm good in one-on-one coverage," he said. "I can jam the receiver, match-up well with any receiver, and can tackle and cover pretty well," he added.
