"I ran track," he said. "I also go to Performance Sports here in Allen," he added.

"Basically, it's a program for college students," he stated. "We run the 40, work on agility, and lift as well. We also do a lot of conditioning. It's hard but it's worth it. All of the college kids that are committed go there to workout."

"I talk to Coach Pete, Coach Lake, and Coach Gregory," said Hartsfield. "I spoke to Coach Gregory just a couple days ago. He was just checking in and seeing what's up."

He went on to say that he's excited to play for DBs Coach Jimmy Lake.

"Coach Lake has great character," he said. "I'm excited to play for him. I like that he has that NFL experience, but he's really about teaching his players. He's always going to help you become a better player and I like that."

"I'm definitely looking to compete," said Hartsfield. "I'm very competitive, they know that, and I'll be ready to compete. It's going to be great."

Hartsfield (5'10, 185) has been studying the playbook, but says learning the system and showing the coaches what he can do during fall camp will be big if he wants to earn playing time as a freshman.

"Obviously, learning the system is something I have to do," he said. "I've been studying the playbook and we do a lot of the same stuff here at Allen. I just need to learn the system, get those reps in during the summer, and be ready to compete in fall camp. It's up to me to show the coaches what I can do."

And joining the team next month? The future Bronco says he "can't wait."

"I can't wait," he said. "I've been counting down the days," he added.
