The Best Running Backs vs. Boise State

BroncoCountry continues the quest to name the All-Time Boise State All-Opponent Football Team this summer. 20 Semifinalists have been chosen, and we look at 10 of those in this article.

To give you some idea of the caliber of competition Boise State has faced over the years, these are just some of the great running backs the Broncos have been up against:

Pretty impressive list. Deciding on 20 backs for the BroncoCountry semifinal polls wasn't easy, but here are the 20 that will enter the poll:

La'Veon Bell, Michigan State Michigan State Carried 671 times for 3,346 yards (5.0 avg.) and 33 TD's and caught 78 passes for 531 yards (6.8) and 1 TD at MSU

Leon Burns, Long Beach State Had 655 carries for 2,809 yards (4.2) and 50 touchdowns in college Carried 87 times for 292 yards (3.4) and 3 TD's and caught 9 passes for 460 yards in the NFL

Larry Centers, Stephen F. Austin Carried 709 times for 2,943 yards (4.1) and 24 TD's and caught 131 passes for 1,863 yards (14.2) and 13 touchdowns in college Carried 615 times for 2,188 yards (3.6) and 14 TD's as a fullback in the NFL, but became one of the league's all-time best receiving backs, hauling in 827 for 6,797 yards (8.1) and 28 TD's

Merril Hoge, Idaho State Merril had 2,572 rushing yards at Idaho State, and 5,453 all-purpose yards. He carried 825 times for 3,139 yards (3.8) and 21 touchdowns and caught 254 passes for 2,133 yards (8.8) and 8 touchdowns in the NFL.

Steven Jackson, Oregon State Oregon State Had 743 carries for 3,625 yards (4.9) and 39 touchdowns and caught 66 passes for 680 yards (10.3) and 6 TD's in college Has carried 2,395 times for 10,135 yards (4.2) and 56 touchdowns and caught 407 passes for 3,324 yards (8.2) and 8 TD's in the NFL

Ryan Matthews, Fresno State Fresno State Carried 534 times for 3,280 yards (6.1) and 39 touchdowns with 19 catches for 268 yards (14.1) and 2 TD's in college Has carried 564 times for 2,476 yards (4.4) and 14 touchdowns and caught 11 passes for 852 yards (7.7) in the NFL

Adrian Peterson, OklahomaOklahoma Carried 747 times for 4,045 yards (5.4 avg.) with 41 touchdowns and caught 24 passes for 198 yards (8.3) and 1 TD at Oklahoma Has carried 1,754 times for 8,849 yards (5.0) and 76 TD's and hauled in 177 receptions for 1,526 yards (8.6) and four TD's in the NFL

Vai Taua, Nevada Nevada Vai exploded for 711 carries for 4,588 yards (6.5) and 45 touchdowns and added 61 catches for 571 yards (9.4) and 8 TD's at Nevada.

Mike Thomas, UNLV UNLV Had 475 carries for 3,149 yards (6.6) and 37 touchdowns at UNLV Carried 1,087 times for 4,196 yards (3.9) and 19 TD's with 192 receptions for 2,011 yards (10.5) and 11 scores in the NFL

Robert Turbin, Utah StateUtah State Turbin had 565 carries for 3,315 yards (5.9) and 40 touchdowns in college, and added 67 receptions for 845 yards (12.6) and 11 TD's Has carried 80 times for 354 yards (4.4) and caught 19 passes for 181 yards (9.5) in the NFL thus far Recommended Stories
