Boise State Lands Another Texas Big Man

Zach Haney, a 6'11 Power Forward/C from Humble, Texas has committed to Boise State. Haney brings the Bronco 2014 recruiting class to 4 players, and adds more height to a Boise State team that has desperately needed to add both size and depth to its front court since moving to the Mountain West Conference.

Recruiting has become big business with dozens of recruiting sites seemingly covering every visit, letter, and phone call that schools make to the top tier of athletic talent in the US, and yet every year, there seems to be a very talented and hotly pursued player who slides along in relative anonymity until they make their ultimate decision known.

That player, this year, seems to be Zach Haney.

Haney is not unknown to teammates.. the 6'11 big man was a major force for the Atascocita Eagles. He isn't unknown to the Texas 5A High School Basketball League, garnering All-District 1st Team honors, and he wasn't unknown in recruiting circles, where he earned offers from schools in heavy weights conferences like the Pac12, SEC, and ACC.. but he was unknown to the fans of the school where he will play ball for the next 4-5 years.

I have a feeling, however, that given Haney's mix of size, athleticism, and work ethic.. he won't be unknown to Bronco fans for long.

Joining Haney in the new Boise State front court are 6'10 JC Transfer Kevin Allen from Pratt CC in Pratt, Kansas, and 6'9 David Wacker from Judson HS in Converse TX.
