Jeremiah Ieremia's New Approach To Recruiting
"I'm pretty much enjoying it. It's a blessing to be in the position I'm in right now," Jeremiah Ieremia said. "I'm making a lot of connections with coaches, and it's going really well." His choice to delay his commitment came about because of his desire to have his family involved and because new schools began to show interest as Boise State, Washington and Oregon State all extended offers. "We had a deep talk," Ieremia said. "It was my decision to choose, but I hadn't talked to my family yet. That's what it came down to. "I'm in the middle right now. I favor a couple of schools and I have it planned out. But it's up for grabs. I'll be making my final five in the next few months." Now, instead of focusing on the negative aspects, Ieremia thinks about how fortunate he is to play football. "It's been pretty stressful," he said. "Sometimes I feel like I need to hurry it and choose. But this last month, I've learned to enjoy it and deal with it as it comes." Ieremia's recruitment is also affected by his desire to serve a two-year LDS mission. He says some schools are turned off by it. "I talked to USC at a camp and I told them about my mission," he said. "They said they needed a guy to come play right after high school." In that top five, Ieremia says BYU, Washington and Oregon State will definitely be there. But don't count Boise State out of the running to land the services of the Hurricane star. "I love Boise State," he said. "I love coach (Andy) Avalos (and) I like the school. I'm trying to get to know the coaches more. I like Boise State. They'll be up there. They will be one of my official visits."
