Boise State quarterback Jared Zabransky is one of 60 players named to the 2006 Watch List for the 70th Maxwell Award, Maxwell Football Club President Ron Jaworski announced Tuesday. The Maxwell Award honors the nation's top collegiate player, regardless of position. He joins Hawaii's Colt Brennan as the only WAC players so honored...
Jared Zabransky
, (6-2, 203lbs), who was named the 11th best NCAA QB in the Nation by The Sporting News earlier this year, is currently fifth at
Boise State
in career total offense and passing yards, fourth in career completions, fifth in career passing attempts, sixth in career touchdown passes, fourth in 200-yard passing games, fifth in 300-yard passing games, fifth in career rushing touchdowns and ninth in career touchdowns. As a Junior, Zabransky completed 182-of-307 passes for 2,283 yards and 17 touchdowns during the regular season..
The Maxwell Award watch list includes a field of sixty candidates as selected by the Maxwell Football Club Advisory Committee. Additions and subtractions to the lists, based on player performance, will be made through out the 2006 football season.
Twelve semi-finalists for each award will be announced in October 2005 and the field will be trimmed to three finalists in November 2005. The winners of the Maxwell Award will be announced at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show that will be broadcast on ESPN in December 2006. The formal presentation of the Maxwell Award will take place at the Maxwell Football Club Awards Banquet in March 2007.
Zabransky is one of 26 quarterbacks on the watch list and one of only two Western Athletic Conference players, the other is University of
Hawaii
quarterback
Colt Brennan
