Broncos Look To Home Field Advantage

The undefeated Wyoming Cowboys venture into Bronco Stadium to face a Boise State team that is eager to prove what it can do after last week’s poor performance against Washington.  The two teams met last year in Laramie, with the Broncos holding on for a 17-10 victory.

Quarterback Karsten Sween has led a revival of the Wyoming offense since taking over two games after the Boise State game last year.  Sween is 7-2 as a starter since that point, including throwing for 253 yards and a touchdown against Virginia.   

 Wynel Seldon and Devin Moore are a formidable pair at running back for the Cowboys.  The two have combined for 369 yards and three touchdowns on the ground so far this year.

Michael Ford returns for the Cowboys and will test the Bronco secondary along with senior Hoost Marsh and Greg Bolling.  Bolling leads the Cowboys with 11 catches for 122 yards and two touchdowns.  Tight end Wade Betschart is a preseason All-Mountain West selection and posted career highs last week against Utah State with five catches for 65 yards.
 
Wyoming held Virginia to just seven total yards to the credit of the defensive line.  Defensive ends Mitch Unrein and John Fletcher were in the Cavalier backfield nearly the entire game. 
 
Wyoming’s defense is ranked 10^th in the nation, led by their tough linebackers.  Ward Dobbs leads the group with 11 tackles and will be key to stopping Boise State’s Ian Johnson.
 
Julius Stinson and Michael Medina return at cornerback for Wyoming  Stinson has 18 tackles, two tackles for a loss and two interceptions this season.  Michael Ray and Quincy Rogers start at safety tonight..

Boise State will need a strong effort from start to finish to defeat the determined Cowboys.  With several “non-BCS” teams losing last week as well, the Broncos are still in the hunt for #1 among those teams if they can resume their winning ways.  Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. tonight in Bronco Stadium for Homecoming.

Wyoming (96-4) 41.3-12.8, High: 59-3 and 63-7 (Boise State), 38-21 (Wyoming), Low: 13-10 and two 24-21’s (Boise State), 20-14 (Wyoming), Times Wyoming scored 13 points or less (51), Times Boise State scored 41 or more points (50), Highest points Boise State scored and lost (24), Highest points Wyoming scored and won (38). Boise State held Wyoming to 13 points or less half the time. However, winning 96% of the time, it is not necessary to hold them to 13. We know from the last factoid that if Boise State scores 39 points, they will defeat Wyoming nearly 100% of the time, so that is the magic number for the Boise State offense
