Bart's Blog: “I’m kind of a big deal…”

In the words of Ron Burgundy, “People know me.” And since Boise State was idle this past weekend I guess I will mention a little side note about BSU’s next game and let a few people know that I will be inducted into Boise State’s Athletic Hall of Fame on Wednesday. Please hold your applause.

I played a few times on the blue back in the day, I ran a few times, threw a few more and we won a few games. All when this juggernaut was getting started in the Division 1A ranks. Want to know a little tidbit of info about my career at BSU? My first and last football games on the blue had touchdown runs of over 70 yards… and I know the words to the fight song. Yes, it has words before “Go Orange, Go Big Blue…”

With all sarcasm aside though, I do sincerely want to create a big shout out to all fans that have watched the rest of the boys and I on the blue during that time. Thank you immensely. The recruiting Class of 96’ just wanted to play some ball and some magic happened along the way. We also just want to get a voice out there and be known as the players who created the momentum and I am more than happy to be that voice and face for us. And for the rest of my comrades: I couldn’t have done it with out you.

We are very proud of what has become of the football program and extremely hopeful of its future and the people involved. Just look at the twin towers looming over the field. When I first stepped on to the blue they were just beginning to build the rounded corners on the south end. In just over ten years this program has received new offices, new weight room, new locker room, indoor facility, and essentially a new stadium. In just ten years we had won seven conference championships going to seven bowl games highlighted by that Fiesta thing.

I guess you can applaud now. I am.
