Boise State's women's basketball team was picked to finish 5th in 2006, but somebody forgot to tell Head Coach Gordy Presnell and his team. The Bronco's dominated the WAC on their way to a 24-8 record, a WAC regular season and tournament championship, and their first NCAA Tournament trip in over a decade. So if you're the Broncos.. what do you do for an encore? ..... RELOAD!!

Boise State's women's basketball team, fresh off their first visit to the NCAA Tournament in over a decade, was tabbed the team to beat in the WAC, in large part, because of the stellar play of Junior Guard Jessica Thompson.

That stellar play did not go unnoticed by the rest of the WAC as Thompson was named the WAC Preseason Player of the Year.

This is the Bronco's first such honor, and comes on the heels of a number of firsts. Last year was the Broncos' first Conference Championship in the WAC, and was their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1994. It was also the first time the Bronco's have had a Conference Tourney MVP, (also Thompson), and it was the first time the Broncos have had two players on the All-Tourney 1st team. (Thompson and fellow Junior guard Tasha Harris.)

The Broncos also boast pre-season All-WAC second teamer Harris, and for the first time in WAC history, are picked to finish higher than the 5th seed. They were chosen the Preseason favorite by both the Coaches and Media.

All-WAC Preseason 2nd Team Honoree, Tasha Harris helps lead the Bronco's scoring attack.
