With
Boise State’s
42-7 win over San Jose State
last Saturday, the Broncos won their eighth game of the season. That’s
the ninth straight time that Boise State
has won at least eight games. The Broncos are tied for the 20th-longest
streak in college football history and the 16th best in the last 70 years. Boise State moved ahead of streaks by Texas,
Ohio State, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Miami of Florida and LSU with their win
Saturday.
Nebraska
is the runaway record holder with 33 consecutive seasons of eight or more
wins. The Cornhuskers accomplished their amazing run from
1969-2001. Michigan
recorded eight or more wins from 1985-2004 for 20 straight seasons, while Princeton
(1888-1906) and Florida State
(1987-2005) are tied with 19 straight years.
Boise
State can move into the all-time
top 15 with two more seasons of eight or more wins. If the Broncos can
continue their record of success, they will rank in the top ten of all-time in
four more years.
