Boise State Nails Nevada 95-80

Still stinging from a tough road loss to Utah State, Boise State defeated Nevada in Reno 95-80. The Broncos were on fire from three-point land, continually keeping the Wolf Pack at bay with bombs from behind the arc.

Just when preseason Western Athletic Conference favorite Boise State was getting knocked around by lesser teams, the Broncos went into Reno and shocked the Wolf Pack 95-80 tonight.  Nevada’s ten-game home winning streak is history; they came into the game winners of 31 of their last 33 at home.

Tyler Tiedeman led the Broncos back from a halftime deficit by bombing away from three-point land, and then helped preserve the win by hitting five-of-six free throws down the stretch.  Tiedeman finished with a career-high 27 points.  Tiedeman, one of five Broncos in double figures, was joined in the outburst by Anthony Thomas and Reggie Larry with 16 points each, while Matt Bauscher and Matt  Nelson contributed 10 each.

The Broncos hit 13-of-22 treys to take advantage of a zone defense by Nevada.  At one point, Boise State was 11-23 from beyond the arc.  With the road win, Boise State advances to 13-5 on the season and 4-2 in league play. 

The loss was Nevada’s worst home loss in ten years, as they slip to 10-7 overall and 2-2 in the WAC.  The Wolf Pack were led by Marcelus Kemp with 23 points and Armon Johnson, who had 20. 

Boise State returns home next week for a clash with Hawai’i.
