The Boise State
gymnastics team jumped up from #21 to #18 this week according to Gyminfo.com on
the basis of their 194.162 average score in two meets this season. This is the highest early-season ranking for
the Broncos in years. Georgia
is #1 this week with a 196.869 average score.
There are only 11 teams in the country with a higher score than the 195.7
score the Broncos earned on the road last week at Utah
State.
Boise State
is a solid fourth place in the Western Region behind UCLA (195.383), and Oregon
State and Stanford, each with
averages of 195.258.
The Bronco team has shown good consistency on all four
apparatuses: Boise
State is ranked 9th in
the country on the uneven bars (48.875),13th in floor exercises (48.762),
25th on the beam (48.087) and 27th on the vault (48.437).
Boise
State beats the Bruins for #1 in
the West by 12/1000’s of a point on floor exercises, while the Broncos rank second
in the West by 4/100’s of a point to Stanford on the uneven bars, fourth on the
beam and fourth on the vault.
Individually, Lindsey Ward is 5th in the West and
22nd in the country on the uneven bars with an average score of 9.837,
Hannah Redmond is 5th in the West and 27th in the country on floor exercises with an
average of 9.837, Taylor Jacob leads the team on the beam with an average of 9.775
(6th in the region and 42nd nationally) while Amy Glass paces the Bronco vaulters with
an average of 9.837, 6th in the West and 32nd in the
country.
Sarah Smith is 13th in the West on the floor (9.775)
while Kelsey Lang is 17th with an average of 9.75. Glass is 12th in the region on the
beam, with Mallory Dziawura and Amber Neroes tying for 14th in the region on the bars with
9.775 averages, Redmond 17th with a 9.762 and Shaniece Craft tied
for 17th on vault with a 9.787.
The Broncos travel to Cedar City,
Utah Friday for a four-way meet that
includes WAC rival Southern Utah, BYU and Cal
State-Fullerton.
