The Boise State women’s basketball team
got another monkey off its back when the Broncos snapped a six-year skid by
winning in San Jose against the Spartans
78-51 tonight in front of just 282 spectators.
Jenna Galassi once again led the way for the Lady Broncos with 16 points
and six rebounds as Boise State remained one game
behind Fresno State in the Western Athletic
Conference standings.

Presnell’s team fired out to a 12-0 lead in taking a 43-30 lead into
halftime. Galassi poured in 12 in the
first half while Ja’Lara Walker added eight.
The Broncos once again took control following the break with a 14-2 run
and coasted to their sixth straight victory.
Guard Tasha Harris extended her double digit scoring streak to 23 games
with 13 points and added six boards and five assists. Jessica Thompson contributed 13 points, five
assists and three steals, while Walker finished with 10
points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots.
Jackie Lee tied Walker for the team lead in
rebounds with seven.
Christine
Martin led San Jose State with 19 points with
Natalie White adding 12.
The Broncos
shot 48.1% from the floor including 6-of-16 from the three-point line and 81.5%
(22-27) from the free-throw line.
Meanwhile, Boise State held the Lady Spartans
to just 29.7% shooting (19-64).
Presnell’s gals also controlled the boards 45-27.
Boise State is now 14-6 overall and
6-2 in WAC play as teams hit the halfway point of the conference season. The Broncos are in a tie for second place
with Nevada, which lost 81-49 to Fresno State tonight. San Jose State slips to 2-18 overall
and 1-6 in the WAC.
Boise State travels to Idaho Saturday night. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. in the Cowan Spectrum.
