The #19 Boise State gymnastics team
hosts Western Athletic Conference opponent San Jose State this Sunday in Taco
Bell Arena. Boise State (4-1, 3-1 in the
WAC) returns home for the second of six home meets this season.
The Broncos are
coming off their second best performance of the season, a 194.425-point effort
in the Southern Utah Quad Meet last weekend.
Boise State student-athletes captured all four events for the second straight week,
but the team will be looking to show depth this week.
Boise State is averaging 194.250
this year while the Lady Spartans average 192.181. Freshman Hannah Redmon was the WAC Gymnast of
the Week by virtue of winning the all-around title last week for the Broncos. Redmon also won the vault and floor
exercises, while sophomore Taylor Jacob captured first on uneven bars and
senior Lindsay Ward tied for first on the beam.
Boise State continues to pace
the WAC in both vault and floor and is a solid number two on bars and
beam. Shaniece Craft leads the league on
vault with a 9.80 average, with Ward #1 on bars (9.842) and Redmon tops in
floor exercises (9.842). Jacob is third
in the WAC on beam with a 9.775 average.
Craft will be joined on vault by freshman Amy
Glass, Redmon, junior Amber Neroes and sophomores Ruthie Pennington and Yvette
Leizorek. Jacob and Ward will head the
bars along with Glass, Leizorek, Redmon and freshman Mallory Dziawura. The Broncos’ lineup on beam will be Ward,
Jacob, Neroes, Redmon and freshmen Cassie Tycast and Kelsey Lang. Boise State features a strong
floor lineup in Redmon, Glass, Jacob, Leizorek, Lang and Sarah Smith.
Come out Sunday and
cheer the Broncos on as they try to elevate their performance against the
Spartans. Action gets underway at 6 p.m.
