With just two meets remaining in the regular season, the Boise State gymnastics team is tuning up for the WAC Championships in Boise. Last night, the Broncos scored a 194.025-193.450 victory over Sacramento State in Taco Bell Arena.

The Boise State women’s gymnastics team held off a game Sacramento State (4-4) squad to post a 194.025-193.450 victory over the Hornets last night in Taco Bell Arena.  Boise State (7-1, 6-1 in the Western Athletic Conference) was coming off the sixth best performance in school history when they recorded a 196.425 score on the road at Cal State-Fullerton last week.

Coaches Tina Bird and Neil Resnick guided the Broncos to their third best mark of the year on bars with a 48.80.  Sacramento State won the beam 48.750 to 47.70 for the Broncos to make the competition close.  Marina Borisova and Melissa Genovese of the Hornets tied for first in the event. 

Freshman Hannah Redmon posted her second all-around title of the season with a 39.0, captured her fourth vault win of the year with a 9.825, her fifth floor title (9.875) and finished third on bars with a 9.750.  Sophomore Taylor Jacob snagged the individual title on bars for the fifth time this year with a 9.850.  Senior Lindsay Ward tied with Jacob on bars, Ward’s fourth win in the event, and Lindsay also finished in a tie for third on the beam with a 9.725. 

Freshman Amy Glass finished in a tie for second in the vault with a 9.775, fellow freshman Sarah Smith finished second on the floor with a career-best 9.850 while sophomore Yvette Leizorek fished third on the floor with a season-best 9.825.

The Broncos hold a triangular meet with Southern Utah and Seattle Pacific next Friday, one of only two remaining regular season meets before Boise State hosts the WAC Championships March 29th.
