Mark Sanchez missed the first game against Utah State this season for the Broncos, but on Saturday night he made sure that he played well enough to make up for it, leading the Broncos with 20 points, and joining with the Bronco's Anthony Thomas, who scored 18, to lead the Broncos to a 66-56 win over the #17 Aggies.
Utah State
entered Saturday's game in Boise with the Nation's longest winning steak, but left Boise scratching their heads as to who this
Boise State
team was.
The Broncos, led by Senior PF
Mark Sanchez
and Junior PG
Anthony Thomas
, took the lead going into the half by 2 and then never trailed in the second half, using an aggressive defense, superior guard play, and aggressively going after Aggie leaders Tia Westley and Gary Wilkinson when both got into fould trouble before the half.
Boise State got strong play off the bench from Sean Imadiyi, who surprised off the bench with 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and 6 points.
Ike Okoye
led the Broncos with 7 rebounds and put the exclamation point on the win with a a volleyball spike of a block late.
Boise State had a season best 7500 fans in attendance, and before going back to celebrate the win, Head Coach
Greg Graham
implored the fans to return, "We need you here Wednseday!", referring to the upcoming game against Bronco rival
Idaho
Vandals this coming Wednesday evening.
