Southridge HS K Trevor Harman (Beaverton, OR) was in Boise for an official visit just a little over…
Boise State's Tradition of Success Continues
"I chose Boise because I think I could do a bit more (at Boise) than at OSU. I just think Boise's program is better than OSU's," said Harman, who tripped to Boise State on the last weekend of the recruiting season.
The Boise State Special Teams are highly regarded across the country as one of the best in college football. The Broncos are always excellent fundamentally when it comes to kicking and punting. Add in the trick plays and it becomes tough for opposing coaches to gameplan for Boise State. "Boise is scoring a lot of TDs," he said. "That means a lot of extra points and kickoffs. I think the trick plays are a lot of fun as well."
Harman (6'3 195) was recruited by Coach (Jeff) Choate. "Coach Choate is a funny guy," he said. "I like his mentality and his personality. He's going to challenge me in practice," Harman added.
The standout K knew Boise State was the perfect fit for him following his official visit to Oregon State. "OSU didn't have a STs coach," he said. "Boise has Coach Choate and I liked their plan for me best."
Trevor called the Bronco coaches and he let them know that he would be heading to Boise. "I called Coach Choate and then I called Coach Petersen," he said. "What I really liked about the coaches was that they treated me so well even though I'm just a walk-on."
Harman had an outstanding senior season for Southridge HS. He was rewarded with First Team All-State honors following the season. "I was 17/20 on FGs," he said. "I was 64/66 on EPs. My longest FG was 50 yards."
All athletes want to finish their season on top. That's exactly what Harman and his teammates did in 2008. "We were 12-2," he said. "We won the 6A State Championship. We were the underdog and proved the whole state wrong."
Harman found himself all over the field due to injuries this past season. "I played WR due to injuries," he said. "It was my first time. I got Third Team Metro. I also played FS a couple of games and started one game at QB."
Trevor is currently practicing at least once a week. "I'm doing track right now," he said. "I kick at least once a week," he added.
BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Trevor Harman as he prepares for his arrival in Boise.
