The women's gymnastics team has vaulted Boise State back into first place in the Western Athletic Conference Commissioner's
Cup Standings. The Lady Broncos were on fire last night in Sacramento,
California in capturing their second consecutive WAC title and giving Boise
State six Commissioner's Cup race.
Boise State now has 57.25 points to
54.75 for Utah State. Nevada is in third with 49.75, followed by Idaho
(42.00), Fresno State (36.75), Hawai'i (35.75), Louisiana Tech (35.50), New Mexico State (35.25) and San Jose State with 32.00 points.
There is now enough data to project the
eight remaining sports although it is still very early in their respective
seasons. For purposes of this estimate, I used the indoor track season to
project outdoor track, Golfweek rankings for men's and women's golf and
the current WAC standings for baseball, softball and men's and women's tennis.
Using these projections, Boise State is
projected to win the Cup for the second time in four years. The Broncos
won the Cup, which awards the best overall performance in sports, in 2006.
Nevada took the title away in 2007 and Fresno State won it last year. Keep
in mind these projections assume a WAC title in men's tennis and men's outdoor
track, a second-place finish in women's tennis, a third-place finish in women's
outdoor track and a fifth-place finish in softball for Boise State.
1. Boise State 92.25

5. Idaho 71.00
6. Utah State 70.50
8. San Jose State 59.50
7. Louisiana Tech 59.00
