Virginia Tech and Boise State have agreed to play in the 2010 college football season. The two teams will face off Saturday, October 2nd at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, the home of the NFL Washington Redskins. Bronco Athletic Director Gene Bleymaier had said publicly that Boise State would be pursuing a big-name opponent in the 2010 season and all signs point to Virginia Tech.
Reportedly, Virginia Tech will drop its home-and-home series in those years with Syracuse after the Orangemen asked out of the deal.
Boise State will reportedly get $1.25 million for playing in the game. The Atlantic Coast Conference owns the television rights to the game, but the magnitude of the matchup could be featured on ESPN Gameday.
Virginia Tech, the defending ACC champions, consistently are one of the top football teams in the nation, having won 10 or more games in each of the past five seasons.
