The Boise State men’s cross country team started off the year with a win at the Roger Curran Invitational in Nampa yesterday while the women finished second.

Junior Kevin Higgs paced the Broncos in winning the individual 6-kilometer title in 18 minutes, 41.23 seconds. Promising freshmen Jeff Howard (18.4472) and Kevin Rosaaen (18.53.46) finished second and third respectively.

Freshman Shannon Porter topped the Boise State women in the 4-kilometer race by winning the event in 14.19.20. Junior Carly Gerard took ninth with a time of 15.17.31 but unfortunately those were the only two in the top ten.

Boise State resumes action in two weeks at the Bob Firman Invitational on September 26.
