Boise State returns home for a contest against a foe familiar to long-time Bronco fans. It's Homecoming Week, and Boise State will host Cal-Davis Saturday night at 6 in Bronco Stadium.

Boise State ’s Homecoming Week will conclude with the Broncos hosting head coach Chris Petersen’s alma mater, the Cal-Davis Aggies.

Cal-Davis is led by head coach Bob Biggs, who sports a 124-61-1 record.  He was one of the quickest coaches to 50 wins in college football history.  His staff includes former Boise State standout lineman Jeff Copp, who was hired to coach the Aggie safeties.

Davis , chosen by Phil Steele in the offseason to win the Great West Conference, placed seven players on the all-conference first team and six on the second team last year.  The Aggies return all of those honorees but one.

The Aggies are led by junior quarterback Greg Denham (6-3, 215), who tops the Football Championship Series with 30 completions per game, while wide receiver Chris Carter (6-0, 195, Sr.) leads the nation with 11 receptions per game.  Denham torched the fourth-ranked ( FCS ) Montana secondary for 362 yards.  Carter set a school record with 18 catches against Montana ’s vaunted defense on September 12th for a career-best 190 yards.

Tight end Dean Rogers (6-2, 250, Jr.) was all-conference last season, while wide receiver Bakari Grant (6-4, 195, Sr.) was second-team.  Junior Sean Creadick (6-1, 191) has 19 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown this season.  Joe Trombetta (28 carries for 106, 1 TD) is the running back. At 6-0, 220, the junior back has some power.

Up front, center Tommy Hernandez (6-2, 283, Sr.) and tackle Mark Tos (6-6, 290, Jr.) have started 26 consecutive games.  Robert Ayotte (6-5, 285, So.) starts opposite Tos, while the Aggie guards are redshirt freshmen Sean Davies (6-3, 285) and Ray Wilburn (6-2, 285).

On defense, linebacker Mike Morales (6-2, 240, Sr.) is back after a team-leading 72 tackles last year.  Morales leads a stellar group that also includes Dozie Amajovi (6-1, 245, Jr.) and Mike Healey (6-1, 220, Sr.).  Senior cornerback Jeremy Scott (5-9, 185) is another sure tackler, while cornerback Kenneth Brown (5-10, 180, Sr.) was last week’s Great West Defensive Player of the Week after forcing a fumble and intercepting a pass.

Defensive ends Patrick Michelier (6-2, 260, Sr.) and Eric Sobotka (6-2, 238, Jr.) are dependable forces on the outside.  They have helped the Aggies allow fewer than 100 rushing yards in two of three games, including just 86 against Montana .  Cal-Davis has held opponents to less than 100 in eight games since 2008, a streak that also includes San Jose State last year.

Jacob Maxson (6-2, 282, So.) and redshirt freshman Brock Galvin (6-3, 255) will anchor the tackle positions for Davis .  Safeties Danny Hart (5-11, 210, Jr.) and Ramsey Moyer (6-0, 190, Sr.) are the last line of defense for the Aggies.

In their game with Fresno State , Davis allowed 301 rushing yards and 201 through the air.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Saturday in Bronco Stadium.  Dress warm!
