Pierce spoke to the Boise State staff in early September and was told he would finally get the offer he had been waiting for throughout the recruiting process. "I spoke to Coach Pease and Coach Pete on Sunday night," he said. "Coach Pete just told me he wants me to be a Bronco and thinks I fit in well with the TEs."
The standout TE had his first opportunity to talk to (Head Coach) Chris Petersen since his unofficial visit to Boise State over the summer. "It was good talking to him. I hadn't talked to him since I went up to Boise. He's down to earth, honest, up front, and everything I'm looking for in a coach."
Richardson (6'4, 216, 4.7) had his transcript sent to Boise State in early September and everything appears to be good on the academic side. "The latest is that they got my grades and everything is good," he stated. "I guess I should be getting it anytime. They told me they were going to offer me and to have my counselor fax my transcripts."
The Broncos are now up to #5 in the polls and Richardson feels Boise State is heading for a BCS Bowl. "I think it's awesome," he said in reference to the high ranking. "It's good for Boise and the WAC. They'll most likely be in a BCS game. I think the offense is awesome and it's great that they use multiple TE sets."
Iowa State has really stepped up in their recruitment of Richardson and that's why they have pulled even with Boise State. "Iowa State is on me the hardest by far," he said. "Coach (Tom) Herman and Coach (Paul) Rhoads both call me. I feel real comfortable out in Ames and the atmosphere. Everyone enjoys doing what they're doing and that would be awesome to be a part of," he added.
Pierce suffered a concussion against Birmingham two weeks ago and it appears he's now ready to step back on the field. "I got a concussion in the Birmingham game," Richardson said. "I was out for a week. I felt fine two days after the game. They just wanted to make sure." Servite HS handed Crespi their first loss a week ago and Richardson hopes he and his teammates can rebound this week. "We lost 38-28," he stated. "We were down 31-0 at the half. We're 2-1 right now and we'll play St. Bonaventure this week. They are a great team and #3 in the state. We're going to have to spread them out and put the ball in our playmakers hands."
BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Pierce Richardson throughout his senior season.
