Boise State's basketball team scored an impressive 90-87 win over Loyola
Marymount last night in the Karl Tyler Chevrolet Grizzly Tournament in Missoula,
notching their sixth season-opening win in eight seasons under Coach Greg Graham.
Junior guard La'Shard Anderson paced the way with career highs of 26 points
and 13 free throws, including nine consecutive charity shots down the
stretch. Anderson was 6-6 in the final 35 seconds to ice the
victory. He led off the second half with seven points as Boise State broke
a 45-45 deadlock at halftime. That lead swelled to 10 with just over 16
minutes to play.
Loyola Marymount fought back, however, and junior Larry Davis missed a chance
to tie the game as time expired. He led the Lions with 22 points off the
bench.
Anderson finished 13-14 from the line as Boise State shot 83.3% as a
team. Kurt Cunningham and Paul Noonan contributed 16 points each while Ike Okoye had 10 points, nine rebounds and a career-high five assists.
Newcomer Daequon Montreal added seven rebounds while senior guard Anthony Thomas, starting in his 67th consecutive game, had three steals.
