Corral Conversations: Bryan Douglas
Douglas has been keeping in close contact with DBs Coach Marcel Yates and Head Coach Chris Petersen. The bond that Bryan has formed with the Bronco coaches will make his move to campus an easy transition. "I've been keeping in touch with Coach Yates since it's getting close. We've been re-establishing our relationship," he stated. "I've been talking to Coach Pete too. Me and the coaches have a great bond. Everything runs so smooth when I talk to those guys."
The past few days have been quite exciting for Bronco Nation. The recent news that Boise State will move to the Mountain West Conference in 2011 has Boise State fans excited about the future. Douglas sees a bright future for the Broncos in their new conference home. "Man, I was ecstatic when I heard the news about that," he said. "That's marvelous that we joined that conference. I think people will start giving us more consideration now and it'll definitely help with recruiting."
Bryan (5'11, 170, 4.4) committed to Boise State on July 11th of last year. Looking back, he knew Boise State was the perfect fit for him. "I committed after my visit because I was so overwhelmed," Douglas said. "I fell in love with the program and the tradition of winning. I knew I could see myself going there when I saw the facilities and everything."
Nathaniel Narbonne HS has their graduation ceremony this past week. Combine that with Bryan's challenging workout program and that adds up to a busy few weeks. "We graduate Thursday," he said. "I've just been winding down HS and winding down track. My track coach went to Oregon and he's been working me out too. I've been running, doing footwork drills, and working out my knee," he added. Douglas and his track teammates finished in fifth place in the city finals.
The talented CB is no stranger to the big stage. He and his teammates went up against top competition each and every week over his HS career. He feels that will help him on the college level. "I love attention and playing in front of a lot of people," he said. "I think it makes you play better because it makes you concentrate even more. It gives me a big energy rush."
